I’ll be honest, I’ve been eating pretty poorly lately. I was giving myself a break because, well, COVID and all, but then I just wanted to feel a bit better. A little change in what you put in your body goes a long way.
I’m all about the sweets, especially natural sweets! Smoothies are one of the main ways I curb my sweet tooth during the day. I’m a big fan of super frozen fruit, so that things are extra smooth and thick. Plus, hiding some greens in there? Genius!
I’ve found that frozen bananas are my #1 smoothie ingredient. Spinach is #2. Other than that, you can really throw anything you want in. I like getting some healthy fats from whatever liquid I put in (soy milk, coconut milk, etc.) and don’t forget spices! Ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg.. throw it in! The fresher, the better.
The recipe I’m sharing below is my Green Machine smoothie. Ironically enough, it comes out purple (thanks to the blueberries) but you get a healthy dose of GREEN along with some necessary vitamins and minerals.
In a blender, combine frozen bananas, mangos, and blueberries. Add a heaping handful of spinach and a spoonful of ginger. Top with coconut milk and purée until smooth. Serve in a tall glass with a metal straw!
