When the alarm went off this morning, Ryan joked that we needed to count to five and get out of bed. I reminded him that according to the 5 Second Rule, we had to count down from five. That, in the simplest example, is what “The 5 Second Rule” is all about: count down and then move.
Mel Robbins is a great presenter. I highly suggest viewing her Ted Talk, which is what brought her the audience she has today. I liked her book, but I didn’t get the major connection I was hoping for. Her technique definitely has weight, however, I guess I was sort of searching for the “what’s next” after the “ah, I’ve got this now.” If you were just starting out with self exploration/betterment and feeling really lost, it seems this book could make a huge difference for you. In my case, I do think I will refer to it from time to time- like when I don’t want to get on the spin bike. 5,4,3,2,1… no excuses.
