Without fail, I always get one or two cookbooks for Christmas so I have compiled quite the stack. These have been particularly helpful this year, considering we’ve been cooking at home so frequently (see: everyday.)
I really enjoying cooking but most of the time, I’m winging things and hoping they come out. That being said, having a great recipe to follow makes for a nice change of pace.
Below I’ll be sharing some of my favorite cookbooks, some of my go-to recipes, and some others that are on my list to explore further.
Pro-tip: if you have an e-library, you can rent cookbooks and access them through your Kindle app!

- Pinto, Black, and Red Bean Salad with Grilled Corn and Avocado (pg. 62)
While I include Tieghan Gerard’s cookbook on this list, I truthfully head to her blog for most recipes I cook. If you’re looking for a great, basic recipe book using whole ingredients for hearty, warm meals- this is a great option. However, I find more variety in the recipes she posts on her blog. Also, her food photography is TOP NOTCH.
The final cookbooks I’m looking to get my hands on (and I highly suggest you check-out) are from the Moosewoods Restaurant collection. We visit Moosewoods almost every time we visit my grandparents in Ithaca, New York. These are some of the best vegetarian cookbooks I have ever leafed through and as we move into a new, health conscious year, I would definitely like to cook more meat-less meals.
